Sure, you occasionally got the feeling that he’d done this set many times before, but he wasn’t phoning it in, and put on a fantastic show. What a fantastic night!

I had a great night and the highlight was definitely when Billy stopped singing and you could hear only the crowd singing the chorus of Piano Man - epic!

were both highlights as Joel started to pick up the tempo of the set and get the still-seated crowd moving.

- his last US top 10 hit, from 1993.From that point on Joel picked up the pace, ditching his piano for an electric guitar for a number of songs whilestrutting the stage with nifty dance moves and mic-stand tricks.

:)A truly fantastic show the time just flew.Just shows how our generation has been truly blessed with entertainers such as Billy Joel and many others.Lets hope we dont have to wait another 10 years

resounded throughout the arena, sung by thousands, one was left with the impression of a truly great performance.Joels many voices have told stories of characters, lives and events that have been bottled and preserved for our pleasure.Tonight the lid was removed and Aucklands crowd were treated to a taste of pure musical class from a songwriting and performing legend.Having been a Billy Joel fan for almost three decades now, I was thrilled that he played so many early songs, as this is where his gift of music and poetry is revealed at its finest.

through to a song penned in reaction to the United States’ invasion of Iraq before going right back to the song that made him who he is.The band leader’s banter between songs revealeda sense of his character that defied his depressed, alcoholic reputation.Putting on Kiwi, Australian and German accents, Joel showed his versatility as he recounted stories and adventures from his past and interacted with band members on stage. His band was full of veterans as world famous saxophone, trumpet and guitar solos were re-enacted and built upon with ease.

Being largely a second-hand Billy Joel fan, I was in a minority group of young fans at the show but, whether young or old, Joels timeless music gave everyone present a true thrill.

as Joel did his best impression of Malcolm Young on guitar. It sounds like a ridiculous addition to a Billy Joel set, but the crowd lapped up the rock ‘n’ roll with vigour. With just under two hours of Billy Joel hits, the Bronx-born singer-songwriter left the stage only to return for an encore that everyone was anxiously expecting.
